So... A daguerrotype is a photo that was taken as a positive picture on a silver copper plat in the earlier times. The surface of it was kinda like a mirror and was prominent at like 1841.. This process soon replace the camera obscuras.
This was a famous Daguerrotype of Henry Clay! |
It was the first commercially exploitable method to print pictures on paper. The main ingredient in albumen is.. Haha.. Albumin! Just change the e to an i! Hahaha! Okay.. Then this process started to die down maybe around the 1850's.
3. What is a "Stereograph"? When were they popular?
I guess this is an Albumen print. It's also a Carte de visite. |
A stereograph is like giving a picture a 3-D perspective. It's kinda like turning the picture 3-D I think. They started getting popular in the early 1900's or something like that.. I don't know the exact year and date... ^v^;
4. What is a "Carte de Visite"? What ere they used for?
Carte de visite is a small portrait of someone. All I know is that (If I translate it right...) Post the visit... Or something like that.. I dunno I only took french for 3 years and I suck really bad... =A=~ I would guess something like a post card but that doesn't sound right... OwO;
5. Who were Matthew Brady and Alexander Gardener? They both are notable for what type of photography? When were they active? Post two photographs for each photographer.
Well Mr. Brady and Mr. Gardener were famous photographers during the Civil War, noting of how they got famous was through their pictures during the war. The two started in different years, Mr. Brady in 1844 and Mr. Gardener in 1856. Only a... 12 year difference... Hahaha.. Yeah.
Matthew Brady took this after running after the Unions. I think. |
A picture Alexander Gardener took. He said it shows the death of a sharp shooter with him a gun over heads.. |
